Now, I don’t want anyone to panic, but there are only 36 days left until Christmas.
With that out of the way, let’s go over some recent acquisitions that can help you make the most of those 36 days.
Estelle’s new GIANT yarn Big Time, a 50% Wool/25% Acrylic/25% Polyester blend, calls for 25mm needles and will work up into a giant project in an evening.
If fine work is more your style, we just got in Cascade’s Heritage Prints Holiday colourway, which you can see Leslie couldn’t help but try out immediately. A superwash merino/nylon blend, Heritage Prints is irresistably silky right off the ball, and there’s nothing like festive self-striping yarn to get you into the holiday spirit!
Wait, was that TOO fine for you? How about a happy medium – Cascade’s new Aran Splatter yarn. With speckles and subtle tonal stripes, it’ll keep you interested through any late-night weekend speed-knitting sessions, and the 100% superwash merino content will keep your hands happy! The third down from the top – a red/black splatter on white, so-called Queen of Hearts colour – is already Elaine and my’s favourite.
Maybe you’re thinking more of a gift for the yarn lover in your life – we have several different sets back in stock, from sock sets to crochet hook sets to straight needle sets, as well as accessories like point protectors and handmade-in-Canada stitch markers that make lovely stocking stuffers!
I have updated our calendar to reflect our holiday hours, namely that we will be open from 10 – 4 on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas day through January 1st, and re-open January 2nd with our normal 10 – 5:30 hours.
& speaking of our calendar, we have two classes coming up still with a couple spots in them –
our Crochet a Cowl class is this Saturday, November 21st from 10:30 til 12:30,
Perfect for a beginner or intermediate crocheter looking for a warm, quick winter project! Using the free patterns for Sara Freisberg’s Chunky Color Block Cowl (pictured) or Stephanie Jessica Lau’s Triple Luxe Cowl, let our awesome crochet instructor Cyndy be your guide.
Class is one two-hour session and costs $15.
& our Wanderers Slipper KAL takes place November 28th & December 5th, 2 til 4
Treat your feet as the coldest weather approaches with a pair of Wanderers “modern mukluks” by designer Andrea Mowry. Appropriate for the beginner colourwork knitter, or the experienced knitter who wouldn’t mind some support from their fellow wanderers!
Class is two two-hour sessions & costs $15, pattern and materials purchased separately.
Something for everyone! Only 36 days! Try not to think about it too much.
