Dewberry Cowl KAL
Saturday September 19th & 26th, 10:30 – 12:30
Join us in knitting the very wearable Dewberry cowl by Hilary Smith Callis! A perfect one-skein project that you’ll find yourself wearing at the office, at parties, or giving as a gift to your most stylish friends.
Class is two two-hour sessions, costs $15, and is limited to six people.
Colourwork Mitts
Friday September 25th & October 2nd, 1-3PM
Learn to knit a pair of Norwegian-style colourwork mittens using Henriette Hope’s free pattern Norwegian Selbu Mittens! Stranded colourwork is an addictive and impressive-looking technique that involves reading charts – this class is perfect for the knitter who has knit mittens before but wants to try stranded colourwork, or perhaps the knitter who has tried stranded colourwork but never a selbu mitten!
Class is two two-hour sessions, costs $15, and is limited to four students.
How to Knit Cables
Friday October 2nd, 10:30 – 12:30
or Thursday November 26th, 6 – 8PM
Cables can be intimidating, but with a little practice they can become a favourite method in your knitting arsenal. This class provides the materials for you to get some guided practice, but students should feel free to bring their own materials if they want a project to take home with them.
Class is one two-hour session, costs $15, and is limited to five people.
Cabled Hat
Friday October 23rd & 30th, 1 – 3PM
Nothing says cold weather chic like a cabled hat! Perfect for either the hat or cable beginner looking for their next project, we’ll use the Purl Soho classic Traveling Cable toque pattern to work up a new staple for your winter wardrobe – or a great gift for that worthy person in your life!
Class is two two-hour sessions and costs $15.
Sock-along
Saturday October 31st, November 14th & November 28th, 10:30 – 12:30
Our classic three-session sock-knitting class, the Sockalong helps you knit the sock you want to knit! Chloe will help you learn the methods you want to learn (such as magic loop, DPNs, two-at-a-time, toe up, cuff down, short row heels, afterthought heels) while explaining what each different method has to offer.
Students are required to bring their own sock yarn (approx. 100g/400m of fingering weight yarn is required to make a pair of adult socks) and corresponding needles. A plain sock recipe is provided, but students are free to bring a specific pattern if they have one they’d like to try!
Class is three two-hour sessions, costs $15, and is limited to six students.
Effie’s Finishing Class
Thursday November 5th, 1:30 – 3:30PM
Join our favourite knitting wizard Effie in her famous Finishing class – you’ll get tips and practice binding off, grafting, and seaming so that all of your projects can come off the needles as neat as you’d like them to!
Students will need; their own darning needle, 4 knitted squares at least 4″×4″ in stocking stitch in a light colour of worsted or DK weight, and knitting needles in the size that corresponds to their knitted squares.
Class is one two-hour session, costs $15, and is limited to five students.
Entrelac Knitting
Friday November 6th, 1 – 3PM
Perfect for knitters looking to shake up their boring projects, this class will cover the basics of entrelac knitting, which creates a basketweave-type texture: knit flat, in-the-round, garter stitch or stockinette, and incorporating different colours.
Class is one two-hour session and costs $15. Pattern is included.
Knit or Crochet Snowflakes!
Friday November 13th & 20th, 1 – 3PM
A fun festive project to work up as a gift or decoration for your own igloo, snowflakes work up quick and are a great way to break up the monotony of larger holiday projects. In the first session you will pick out your pattern and get started, in the second we will tackle any issues you encountered, finish up, and discuss blocking/starching.
Class is two two-hour sessions and costs $15.
Wanderers Slippers KAL
Saturday November 28th & December 5th, 2 – 4PM
Treat your feet as the coldest weather approaches with a pair of Wanderers “modern mukluks” by designer Andrea Mowry. Appropriate for the beginner colourwork knitter, or the experienced knitter who wouldn’t mind some support from their fellow wanderers!
Class is two two-hour sessions & costs $15, pattern and materials purchased separately.
Learn to Knit
Thursday Evenings; September 24th, October 22nd, or December 10th 6 – 8PM
Thursday Afternoons; October 1st or November 19th, 1 – 3PM
Learn to Knit is a class for the absolute beginner! Students will learn how to cast on, the knit & purl stitches, and how to cast off. We also discuss different types of yarn and basic patterns. Needles and yarn for practicing are provided, but feel free to bring your own yarn and needles if you have them!
Class is one two-hour session, costs $15, and is limited to four students.
