The onslaught of Spring arrivals continues!
Let’s take a look at some of the exciting new faces around the shop…
A new limited edition self-striping yarn from local indie dyer Penguin Soup! This so-called Punk’n colour is dyed on Penguin Soup’s Tuxedo Sock base – 75% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon, plus 5% Stellina for that sparkly touch that makes the knitting super special. Remember, this is the only run of this colour that we’ll have in the store!
Thanks to a little distributor shuffling, we have brought in more of the customer favourite Uptown Worsted, as well as the new Uptown Worsted Tapestry – a variegated on the same super soft, machine-friendly base!
Not pictured? Uptown Baby Sport, a fantastic true sport weight in a rainbow of awesome modern colours that has been flying off the shelves!
We have new summer colours in the Noro Taiyo (right), an aran weight cotton blend, and also Noro’s new Ginga line, a bulky summer cotton blend, that we have brought in in two colours to test the waters. Both would be lovely for summer sweater projects, but I can’t help dreaming of some two-colour brioche cowls for fall.
New colours in Lang Jawoll (left) and Lana Grossa’s Solo Cotone (right) – both have really impressed me in how magnetic the colours are, the more you look at them the more they grow on you!
Completely new in the sock department, Lang Magic Tweed Superwash in convenient 50g balls. If you look at that pic and don’t immediately want to squeeze that gorgeous turquoise I don’t know how to help you – maybe it’s something about seeing it in person, but these colours are SO incredibly rich! I’m thinking maybe some colourwork mitts in the turquoise and gold? Something fittingly summery for summer knitting like these Seahorse mitts.
You might be surprised to learn that this time of year is when we get some requests for Malabrigo’s classic super bulky line Rasta! We’ve heard the calls and have brought in three rich colours to help you balance out the oncoming spring drizzles.
If you’re trying to think past the drizzles, we have a new summer knits book called 60 Quick Cotton Knits (left) that features pattern using the popular Cascade Ultra Pima. If you’d prefer a cotton/acrylic blend, we’ve brought in the Katia Missouri (right) that comes in convenient 50g balls~
For those baby-minded crafters, Katia has also released a “DouDou” blanket kit that makes up into a 2.5ft square with matching toy face to attach. The pattern is on the ball band, fantastic for beginners!
Last but definitely not least, new colours in Manos del Uruguay’s Alegria! Believe it or not, that purple/green/cyan/black number in the bottom left has been flying off the wall since it came in only yesterday. Meanwhile, I’m left wondering if I have enough time to work up a pair of the top right purple for Mother’s Day.
That’s all for now, yarn lovers!
