A whole host of alpaca blends have landed at the shop, full of heathers and solids perfect for winter projects. The added bonus – as they are all blends you get the advantage of alpaca softness without hurting the gift budget~
Three lines are Estelle’s Alpaca Merino yarns (pictured above is the Worsted (175m/191yds, 100g)) which is very similar to Ultra Alpaca, with a much softer hand. The Alpaca Merino is 60% Superfine Alpaca and 40% Merino, made in Bolivia.

It also comes as Alpaca Merino Fine (left), a blend of 55% Merino, 25% Nylon, %20 Alpaca perfect for socks. With 400m/440yds per 100g skein, it’s also perfect for shawls! The  Fine is comparable to Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca Fine except for 5% more Merino and 5% less Nylon – sooo soft! All of these colours mean that those classic Ultra Alpaca colourwork projects now have a new, better substitute. Colour Affection? Check. Daybreak? Check. Endpaper Mitts with the leftovers? Check.

If heavier yarns are more your style, we have Estelle’s Alpaca Merino Chunky. At 125m/136yds, you can get a hat or pair of mitts out of each 100g skein. Pick up a ball or two with no stash guilt, for those last minute gifts~ Colours like navy or forest green or grey are great for that last weekend before Christmas.

If you would prefer a chunky yarn with less wool, we brought in Ella Rae’s Cozy Alpaca Chunky, a super silky 30% Alpaca 70% Acrylic blend. Just look at it! Maybe a two-skein cabled cowl for the deserving knit-appreciator in your life? Lining for the softest mitts ever? Yet another last-minute ribbed slouch hat because you have questionable time management skills?

I’m not one to judge! I’ll just be over here building myself an alpaca blend nest.
