Christmas Countdown

There’s only 7 days left til Christmas, which means many busy bees buzzing around the shop for that last ball for their projects, or last minute bulky projects! It’s also meant record numbers of gift cards flying out our door and possibly into YOUR stocking. Let’s look at some of the most recent shop arrivals you might want to spend it on…

King Cole Shine DK

100g/310yds/282m
97% Premium Acrylic, 3% Polyester

A sparkly self-striper, we’ve brought in Shine DK at the bequest of many of our regulars. It is perfect for the spring cardigan you’ll be working on to remind you that spring is actually eventually going to come. Eventually.

King Cole Tinsel Chunky
50g/79.5yds, 70m
75% Polyester, 25% Lurex

This yarn is infamous already for the adorable hedgehog & owl patterns knitters have been using it for. I love the idea of using it for edging/pompoms on children’s hats to make them sparkle! Basically, people are magpies, everyone loves sparkles.

King Cole Drifter for Baby
100g/ 402yds, 368m
%25 Cotton, 6% Wool, 69% Premium

An awesomely squishy baby blend, Drifter knits up in a nifty self-striping pattern. I love the colour in top-center (called Shrimp!), an excellent example of a colour I would not be able to pull off but a baby definitely could.

Cascade Swaddle
200g/197yds, 180m
100% Polyester

Now in a range of modern solids – something that has been much requested by those crafters already acquainted with the multis – Swaddle’s chunky yardage has been very popular for baby blankets. The solid colours would look fanastic in a colour block blanket, or put together in granny square motifs.

Miss Tricot Filati Tecnosoks Boreale
100g/458yds, 420m
75% Superwash Wool, 25%Nylon

A self-striping 4ply sock yarn in four classic colourways, Boreale is our newest sock yarn. I’m super excited to see it knit up – the colour palette reminds me of what you might have seen a couple decades ago, and you don’t really see them in these combinations anymore!

Coming from the same mill as customer-favourite Uptown Worsted, we have a couple new worsted-weight acrylic yarns. Nako’s Vizon & Vizon Anatolia are 100% Premium Acrylic and are sure to become the pet of every economical/machine wash & dry crafter.

Meanwhile, their cousin Spaghetti Effect (yes, that’s its name, don’t ask me why) is an attractive bulky weight that has been FLYING off of the shelves.  It is 25% wool and 75% acrylic, so it’s warm without the full-wool cost to your wallet and sensitive skin.

Last but definitely not least, from Manos Del Uruguay we have Pastel Tiza, a new Alegria colour, and three new Fino colours; Fascinator, Gilt, and Tincture. These are all sumptuous fingering weights ready to be worked up into jaw-dropping shawls!
