New Yarns & Old Faves

A new month deserves a new update on some new colours and entirely new yarns~!

New natural marl colours in Cascade Ecological Wool – perfect for when you need something big on yardage and warmth~

Cascade’s Eco Duo is back in! This stuff flew off the shelves last winter thanks to it’s lovely striping effect and even lovelier softness~ the sample hat/scarf didn’t hurt either πŸ˜‰

Also back in is the infamous James C. Brett Marble Chunky. We get requests for this all the time and I am so so thrilled to say that it’s back for fall!

King Cole’s Baby Glitz is a brand new yarn – a sparkly dk in baby colours for when you need something with a bit of shimmer. The photo really doesn’t do the sparkles justice!

Our other new baby yarn line – King Cole’s Smarty DK! It’s a ‘speckle’ yarn, which seems to be all the rage lately- a bit of colour to keep things exciting, but none of the self-patterning that can overwhelm cable or lace patterns.

These are some of the new colourways we have brought in, in yarns we already carry – a teal/orange and a camo in the Baby Crofter DK, a wide variety in the Crofter DK (including the subtle white/grey/blue shown~),Β  blue/white/green/yellow in MerryGoRound, soft purple/yellow/pink/orange in Baby Marble, and three new colours in Candystripe – caramel, bubblegum, and lollipop, respectively.

New colours in Cascade 220 Sport (top center) and original Cascade 220 (top right/left, and bottom row) for those woolly winter projects that you’re looking to start now~

There’s more to come before September – this time of year is all about getting in yarns for fall for all you holiday project preppers out there! We have even gotten in some holiday sparkle Red Heart for those looking for reds, greens, whites, and golds.

And, of course, the Lakeside Yarn Crawl marches on! If you haven’t grabbed a passport yet, you still have plenty of time to get in on the action before it ends on Labour Day. With a stamp on your passport, you get an afghan block pattern (each store has a unique pattern!) and an entry into the in-store draw. Our draw features a handy project tote (in either pink or blue, your choice), some sheepy magnets, stitch markers, and all of the requirements for the Late August Shawl (your choice of colour in two balls of Cascade Eco + the corresponding size circular needle)!

Last but not least, starting this Friday, and every following Friday over the summer, from 2pm – 4pm we will have the aSOCKalypse! A free drop in for anyone looking for advice, moral support, or just camaraderie in the pursuit of sock knitting~ A great way to try out new techniques like magic loop, toe up, judy’s magic cast on, or afterthought heels in a supportive environment. As always, you can keep up with any changes to our class schedule via our website.
